One to One Early Intervention Service
Terrence Higgins Trust deliver an early intervention service to young people and vulnerable adults to prevent them engaging in harmful relationships or sexual behaviours and to build a positive image of themselves as an individual.
Clients are usually worked with on a four to six week basis.
Key topics that Terrence Higgins Trust cover include:
- Protective Behaviours
- Body Image
- Online Safety
- Unhealthy Relationships
- Understanding Sexuality
- Sex and the Law
- Appropriate Behaviours
The aim of the service is to work with people who are displaying signs of unsafe sexual behaviour, to help prevent issues such as teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and child sexual exploitation. In addition to this, Terrence Higgins Trust have a sex positive ethos where positive relationships are promoted to ensure young people and vulnerable adults are ready for sexual relationships in a healthy and happy way.
Terrence Higgins Trust do not work with people displaying serious mental health issues. A referral to CAMHS would be more appropriate in these cases. In the same way Terrence Higgins Trust rarely work with people at Level 4 need (i.e. children or vulnerable adults with multiple/acute specialist needs) because they usually have interaction with numerous agencies and it can be too much for them to engage with this service as well at that time.
